The Kit-Tea Café is Falkirk’s first and only cat café, dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and animal welfare. As a non-profit community interest company, it offers a unique environment where visitors can interact with rescued, rehomed, or abandoned cats, fostering a positive support network within the community.
The café provides a tranquil setting for guests to enjoy the calming presence of cats, which can boost natural dopamine levels and improve mood and energy. Visitors can engage with the cats by petting, playing, and observing them in their comfortable home environment. The café also plans to offer classes and educational sessions for adults and children, further supporting mental health and animal welfare education.
Operating on a booking system, The Kit-Tea Café ensures a comfortable experience for all guests. Reservations can be made for general bookings (8 years and older) and “Toe Beans” sessions, accommodating children over 8 years old. The café’s opening hours are Monday from 3 pm to 5:30 pm; Tuesday to Sunday with morning and afternoon sessions.
While the café does not serve a full menu, it offers basic tea, coffee, and pre-packaged snacks, with all proceeds supporting the cats’ welfare fund. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the company of the cats and respect the café’s house rules, which include a no-shoe policy and guidelines for interacting with the cats to ensure their well-being.
