Meow Cat Cafe Essex offers a unique and cozy environment where visitors can unwind and enjoy the company of rescue cats while savoring a variety of locally sourced treats and beverages. With locations in Halstead (closed April 2025) and Colchester, the café provides a welcoming space for cat enthusiasts of all ages.
The café operates on an entry fee basis: £7.00 for adults (16+), £3.50 for children aged 2-15, and free entry for children under 2 years old. This fee contributes to the care and well-being of the resident cats, ensuring they receive the necessary food, toys, and medical attention.
Visitors can choose from various seating options, including window snug areas and tables accommodating 1-4 people, each designed to enhance the café experience. To ensure a comfortable visit, it’s recommended to book in advance, as walk-ins are subject to availability.
A distinctive feature of Meow Cat Cafe is its commitment to rehoming cats. In partnership with Friends of Felines and rescuers in the UAE, the café actively seeks loving homes for its resident cats, providing a second chance for many felines.
For those interested in adopting, the café offers a structured adoption process, ensuring that each cat finds a suitable and caring home. Detailed information about available cats and the adoption procedure is available on their website.
To accommodate a wide range of visitors, the café is family-friendly, with children under 16 required to be accompanied by a paying adult. While the café strives to be accessible, it’s advisable to check the specific facilities at each location, as some areas may have limitations.
