The Pawsome Cat Café in Durham offers a unique and relaxing environment where visitors can enjoy beverages and desserts while interacting with resident and rescue cats. The café is home to six resident cats, each with distinct personalities, including Poncho, a playful Selkirk Rex; Alvin, a charming Chinchilla Persian; Evie, a friendly Ragdoll; Walnut, an energetic Domestic Shorthair; Bagel, a laid-back Exotic Shorthair; and Simon, a reserved British Shorthair.
To ensure the well-being of the cats, the café operates on a booking system, with each session lasting one hour. An entrance fee of £7 per person contributes to the cats’ care, including veterinary bills, high-quality food, and play areas. A £2 deposit per person is required when booking online, which is deducted from the total bill at the end of the visit. The café is open Wednesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Visitors are welcomed by a cat keeper and are encouraged to remove their outdoor shoes upon entering for hygiene reasons. Limited slippers are available, but bringing your own socks is recommended. The café provides a comfortable space to unwind, socialize with the cats, and enjoy a selection of drinks and desserts.
